Affiliate Marketing is a form of digital marketing where the affiliate is paid for each visit by the customers on a website or content driven by its marketing performance. An affiliate is a term used for the marketer which earns money in the form of commission from the online retailers.  The affiliate has to come up with the ideas and promote the client brand in a most appealing way.

 

For example -

In 1996, Amazon became the hub of Affiliate Marketing when they introduced the links in the form of text or direct for each of their product categories like headphones, mobiles, camera and etc. which will enable the marketer or an affiliate to advertise the product and luring the customer to buy the product from Amazon, for which Amazon pays a commission to the affiliate.  Amazon Affiliate Marketing is most excursive means of marketing as it has less competition compared to other social media platforms as many of the marketers are already using the niche which is profitable, that makes the competition higher and leave the marketer with less variety of the product to promote and earn, the marketer will also have to pay money for each follower which are higher than the Amazon Associate.

Types of Affiliate Marketing

The Affiliate marketing is vast online marketing and any person can try this marketing to either surplus it is income or to start something by its means. The Affiliate marketing has many means by which it can generate sales and traffic lie drop shipping, email marketing, webmaster and many more. But there are certain terms or types which all these categories

or means fall under. There are 3 types of Affiliates:-

1. Related Affiliates - 

Related Affiliates exercise the form of marketing where the affiliate has an online presence through which the affiliate will promote the link so that the interested users can buy the product. “In this kind of Affiliate marketing, the affiliate marketer does not use the product but only provide the quality content for the niche product which directly takes them to the affiliate offers”. The affiliate will provide the link or the banner ads to generate the revenue which makes them differ from the affiliates which actually uses the product.

2. Involved Affiliates -

Involved Affiliates practice the other type of Affiliate marketing where the affiliate marketers will only promote the product if they truly think that the product is a must use. “In this type of marketing the affiliate marketers will only provide the quality content for the niche product for the affiliate offers if the marketer has used the product”. The affiliate provides the link in the content of the product they have used which will take the product directly to the product link so that the interested users can buy the product.

3. Unattached Affiliates –

The unattached affiliate marketer either uses the campaigns by pay per click method. “The affiliate marketer will promote the product not by the content but just by placing the unique links or ads visible to the users, the marketer will have no control over the niche product”. Under this type of marketer, the marketer will have no contact with the users but put the ads on social media.

Affiliate marketing is widely used by the online marketer and in any form of Affiliate Marketing; there are always three factors which are involved -

1. Merchant

2. Affiliate Network

3. Affiliate / Marketer

• The Merchant and Affiliate Network both provide the links to the marketer.
• The Affiliate is the marketer and will promote the products of the merchant or the Affiliate network by providing the given links to the customers.

To understand the whole process it can be divided into few steps:-

 1. Look for a Niche 

The first and foremost step is to discover a niche, a niche is the canter essence of the marketer and the affiliate have to find a niche which is profitable and less competitive. The affiliate has to choose a niche after doing market research. The niche is the product of a genre that the marketer will be promoting.

 2. Create a Website of affiliate marketing to start a Blog / Content:

The Affiliate Website is basically where the marketer will be promoting its niche with the content that the affiliate created; it is the main structure in which the affiliate will practice the Affiliate Marketing and a medium to attract the customers. The first two things which should be followed are:-

Register a website Domain Name- A domain name is an address of the internet where internet users can address the website.

Buy the Hosting for a Website – The website hosting is buying the space on the server

for storing all the files and folders which are essential in the website. The affiliate has to

invest some money on the paid hosting but it will do give you the benefit later as by buying

it the affiliate will get security with the supporting staff and also the space that the

marketer requires.

  3. Create an Associate Account on Various Platforms such as Amazon and Build your profile

After creating your own website and a blog, create your own Amazon Associate Account on Amazon Associate Homepage, by creating Amazon Associate Account, the affiliate is seeking permission to Amazon for their services to reach to the millions of buyers of the Amazon product, with this the marketer will also get offers like Cashback, Prime membership.

4. Create the  links/ Backlinks

To make it easily understood, the Amazon links or backlinks are the links which the Amazon Affiliates will be using to promote them through their content and will provide the link for the customer so that
